Cataluna & Costa Brava

Barcelona was the first Roman city, in Barcelona the term bankrupt "banca rota" was invented in the Jewish Getto, Dali and Gaudi created such art that must be contemplated in person, with all your senses. The jamon serrano, olives, wine cheese and good fish are stupendous additions to this cultural experience.

Arrive in Barcelona, spend a couple of days visiting the Sagrada Family and other wonders by Gaudi, enjoying tapas at local markets, see the Barca soccer stadium, walk through Ramblas and stay at the W Barcelona located right on the beach with spectacular sea and skyline views. Or stay at the boutique hotel where Picasso painted. There are other hotels near the Ramblas like Majestic, Mandarin, El Palace, Arts and others. Jewelry shopping is also a highlight in Barcelona.

Drive along the Mediterranean to the Costa Brava where you will see medieval towns, wineries, inspirational fishing villages home to famous artists, visit Salvador Dali's museum and arrive at Petalada resort where your wine spa awaits. Dine at their castle which is also a casino. The drive up to this point is not long, but you are almost bordering France.

Seven or eight days are recommended to accomplish a balanced travel itinerary.
